KiteToGo is a peer-to-peer kitesurfing equipment rental platform that connects kiters who have gear to rent with those who need it. Everything works through WhatsApp, making it as easy as chatting with a friend.

Whether you're traveling and need gear at your destination, or you have equipment sitting idle that could earn you money, KiteToGo makes the connection simple and secure.

How do I start using KiteToGo?

Simply send a WhatsApp message to our number! You can:

  • Send a text message describing what you need
  • Send a voice message in any supported language
  • Share your location to find gear nearby

Our AI assistant understands natural language, so just write what you need as you would to a friend.

Finding Gear to Rent

How do I find gear near me?

There are several ways to search for available equipment:

  • By location name: "I'm looking for kites in Tarifa"
  • Share your location: Use WhatsApp's location sharing feature
  • Check availability: "Where can I find kite gear for rent?"
  • Availability in specific country: "Where can I rent something in Spain?"
What equipment can I rent?

You can find all types of kitesurfing equipment:

  • Kites: Various brands and sizes
  • Boards: Twin tips, surfboards, foil boards
  • Bars: Control bars with lines
  • Harnesses: Waist and seat harnesses
  • Wetsuits: Various thicknesses
  • Accessories: Pumps, helmets, vests, etc.
How much does it cost to access owner contacts?

When you find gear you're interested in, you can request the owner's contact information.

Contact access fee: 3.00 EUR

This one-time fee gives you access to contact all owners in your search results directly via WhatsApp.

This small fee helps maintain the platform and ensures serious inquiries for gear owners.

What happens after I pay for contact access?

Offering Your Gear for Rent

How do I list my equipment?

Adding your gear is simple! Just send us a message describing your equipment. For example:

  • "I have a 12m Duotone Evo 2023 for rent in Tarifa"
  • "I want to publish my North X-Ride board for rent"

You can include details like:

  • Brand and model
  • Size
  • Year
How do I set my location?

You can set your location by:

  • Sharing your WhatsApp location: Most accurate method
  • Naming your location while publishing gear: "I want to publish my North Atmos in Barcelona"

Your location determines which renters can find you when searching for equipment.

How do I view my listed gear?

Simply ask "Show my gear" or "List my inventory" and you'll see all your currently listed equipment with details.

Is there a fee for listing equipment?

No! Listing your equipment is completely free. You only interact directly with potential renters who have paid for contact access, ensuring you receive serious inquiries.

Security Deposits

What is a security deposit?

A security deposit protects gear owners against potential damage or loss. It's an authorization hold on the renter's card, not an actual charge.

Important

The money is never actually taken from the renter's account. It's only "held" by the bank and automatically released after the rental period.

How does the deposit process work?

For Owners:

Request a security deposit by messaging us. You will be asked to attach the renter's contact

Inform rental duration, equipment items being rented & define their replacement value.

Review the rental agreement & add pictures of every repair or scratch in the gear that you will rent.

Once done, the system sends the agreement to the renter for him to review (He may ask for modifications before accepting).The renter receives a secure payment link

Once the renter agrees, he will be forwarded to the payment page.

Once authorized, you're notified and can safely hand the gear over and proceed with the rental

For Renters:

You receive a WhatsApp message with the agreement containing the deposit request details

Review & agree/request for modifications

Once you have checked the gear in person, click the secure payment link to authorize the deposit & complete the 3D Secure verification on your bank's page

The hold is released after the rental ends
When is the deposit released?

The deposit authorization is released:

  • Manually by the owner at any time if the rental concludes early
  • Captured (partially most likely) only if there's damage and both parties agree (or dispute resolution is needed)
What payment methods are accepted for deposits?

We use Stripe for secure payment processing, which supports:

  • All major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
  • Many debit cards
  • Apple Pay and Google Pay (where supported)

All transactions include 3D Secure authentication for maximum security.

Who's behind KiteToGo?

I am a software developer who's taking the indie route.

I would kite every day if I could do so.

If you ask around for my name, you may find me around Barcelona or Quilmes (Argentina). My name is Facundo

Is my information safe?

Yes! I take privacy seriously, both out of principle & law enforcement:

  • Contact sharing requires consent: Your WhatsApp number is only shared after 1) you explicitly agree & 2) potential renter pays fee.
  • Location: People can only now in which city/town you are offering gear for rental. Your exact location will remain hidden (in case you've attached in a message).
  • Secure payments: All transactions go through Stripe with bank-level security
  • Encrypted communications: All WhatsApp messages use end-to-end encryption
  • GDPR compliant: You can request deletion of your data at any time
What if there's a problem with a rental?

If any issues arise:

  • Document the problem with photos
  • Contact us immediately via WhatsApp
  • We'll help mediate between both parties
  • Security deposits can be partially captured if damage is verified
  • Rental agreement asks for both party's email foreseeing that phone/whatsapp access may be lost
  • Upon renter disappearing 24 hours after rental completion time, funds will be fully withdrawn from the security deposit.

Voice Messages

Can I send voice messages?

Yes! You can send voice messages in any language (for better results we kindly ask you to be clear). Our AI will:

  • Automatically transcribe your voice message
  • Detect the language you're speaking
  • Process your request just like a text message

Technical Questions

Why do I need to verify my phone number for deposits?

When authorizing a security deposit, you may be asked to confirm the phone number you're using matches the one on the deposit request. This is a security measure to prevent fraudulent deposit authorizations.

What happens if a payment fails?

If a payment fails:

  • You'll receive an error message explaining what went wrong
  • Common issues include insufficient funds or card restrictions
  • You can try again with a different payment method
  • No charges are made until the payment succeeds
How do I delete my account and data?

You can request data deletion at any time by:

  • Sending "Delete my data" via WhatsApp
  • Emailing privacy@kitetogo.com

Your data will be permanently removed within 30 days.
